Now I will tell you how to catch them. Catfish when they are bitting they are easy to catch. They are bottom feeders and the wat to attract them is through their noses. Their sense of smeel is fantastic. It has to be, because generally they live in dark, muddy waters. Almost any bait has a strong odor  will attract them. Some catfish specialists even go to the trouble of making there own baits. This can be made at home. Or you can take the easy way out and buy commercial catfish-baits.
I have found that shrimps allowed to "ripen"a day or two in warm weather, dead smelly crawfish, bloody chicken liver, old stale gizzards and chunks of chicken guts are all good  channel catfish baits. Smaller sized channel cats will bite well on nightcrawlers.
